Nonlocal pseudopotentials and magnetic fields.
We show how to describe the coupling of electrons to nonuniform magnetic fields in the framework of the widely used norm-conserving pseudopotential approximation for electronic structure calculations. Our derivation applies to magnetic fields that are smooth on the scale of the core region. The method is validated by application to the calculation of the magnetic susceptibility of molecules wit...
متن کاملNonlocal and Local Ghost Fields in Quantum Correlations
Einstein Podolsky Rosen quantum correlations are discussed from the perspective of a ghost field introduced by Einstein. The concepts of ghost field, hidden variables, local reality and the Bell inequality are reviewed. In the framework of the correlated singlet state of two spin2 particles, it is shown that quantum mechanics can be cast in a way that has the form of either a nonpositive and lo...
متن کاملMagnetic ionization fronts I. Parallel magnetic fields
We solve the continuity equations across an ionization front. By including a plane parallel magnetic field we find significant differences in the allowed velocities of the Rand D-type solutions between the magnetized and non-magnetized cases. These results may have implications for the study of ionization bounded diffuse sources where a moderate or strong magnetic field is expected.
متن کاملLocal fields in non–linear quantum transport
In order to describe frequency-dependent quantum transport properties, it is necessary to take into account local fields. However, since the microscopic charge and current distributions are rapidly varying functions of space and time the solution of Maxwell’s equations is a complex task. Especially in the presence of non–linear effects, a selfconsistent theory of frequency and time dependent tr...
متن کاملTransport of quantum excitations via local and nonlocal fluctuations
In quantum systems, one usually seeks to minimize dephasing noise and disorder. The efficiency of transport in a quantum system is usually degraded by the presence of noise and disorder. However, it has been shown that the combination of the two can lead to significantly more efficiency than each by itself. Here, we consider how the addition of nonlocal noise, in the form of incoherent hopping,...
